How to Add a Catalog to WhatsApp Business: Step by Step for Android and iPhone
To add a catalog to WhatsApp Business, open the Tools tab, tap Catalog, then Add new item. Add photos, a product name and the country of origin, then tap Save. WhatsApp checks each item first. Customers see it on your business profile once it is approved. The catalogue is only in the WhatsApp Business app, not the normal WhatsApp app.
Before you add a catalog to WhatsApp Business
The catalogue is a feature of the WhatsApp Business app. It shows on your business profile, where customers can browse it. Get these ready for each product before you start:
| Detail | Required? | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes, and it must be unique | Add the colour or size, like "Teak sofa, 3-seater" |
| Photo | Yes, at least one | You can add up to 10 photos or videos. Videos up to 50 MB. |
| Country of origin | Yes | Where the product was made. WhatsApp asks on every item. |
| Price and sale price | No | WhatsApp says prices are only available in some countries |
| Description | No | Size, material and what is included |
| Website link | No | A link to the product on your website, if you have one |
| Product code | No | Your own code, so you know the item when a customer asks |

What happens after you save
WhatsApp checks every photo, video and item against its rules. Customers see the item only after it is approved, and WhatsApp adds it to your catalogue on its own. If WhatsApp rejects it, you see a red exclamation mark next to the photo.
How to check it worked: open your catalogue from a family member's phone. Approved items show. Items still waiting or rejected don't. Our catalog approval time guide explains the review, and our guide on why WhatsApp rejects catalog items shows how to appeal.
What we see with real shops: the first catalogue most owners make is 5 or 6 items, added on the day they install WhatsApp Business, then left alone. Customers notice old stock fast. Add a few new items every week, and hide sold-out ones instead of deleting them.
Group products into collections
Once you have more than 10 or 15 products, group them, like "Sofas" and "Beds". WhatsApp calls these collections. Our guide to WhatsApp catalogue categories shows how to make them.
Share your catalog with customers
The quickest way is from a customer's chat: tap the attach icon, then Catalog, then Send catalog. You can also share the link to your status, or copy it. Our guide on how to share your WhatsApp catalog link has every option for Android and iPhone.
Hide or delete a product
Hide an item when it is out of stock. It stays in your catalogue, but customers don't see it. On Android, open the item, tap the menu and Hide. On iPhone, open the item, tap Edit, turn on Hide this item and tap Save. WhatsApp says hiding may not be on every phone yet.
Delete an item you will never sell again. On Android, open the item, tap the menu and Delete. On iPhone, swipe left on the item in your catalogue and tap Delete.
Can I add a catalog in the normal WhatsApp app?
No. The catalogue is only in the WhatsApp Business app. It is free to download from the Play Store or App Store. Customers can view your catalogue from the normal WhatsApp app.
Can I add many products at once?
Not in the app. It adds products one at a time. To upload a spreadsheet of products, use Meta Commerce Manager and connect that catalogue to WhatsApp. Our bulk upload guide explains how.
Let us build it instead
Adding 50 products one by one takes a long evening. You can send us your photos and price list on WhatsApp instead. We build your catalogue as one web link in 48 hours, and it works alongside your WhatsApp catalogue. See a real one: Sofa Square Furniture in Koramangala, Bengaluru.
